We are traveling to the Coast mid October possibly arriving on Sunday the 15th. First time. Our flight will arrrive in Naples and I'm trying to figure out the best transportation options to get the 2 of us to lodging. We have not yet decided on a lodging location. in our 50's, mobile and toting 2 carry-ons and 1 check bag between the 2 of us. Recommendations?

Sorrento is a handy base for transportation, including on this route. You can take a direct bus from Naples airport: http://www.curreriviaggi.it/eng/autolinee.html.

Are you looking for transit recommendations? Or are you looking for recommendations for lodging? It's not clear to me. I'm not trying to be difficult but my recommendations for transportation would depend on where you are going and the time of day that you are arriving in Naples and that's why I am wondering if the recommendations request refers to lodging. Because really, how could I tell you the best way to get somewhere when i don't know where you are going.

Sorrento is handy for some daytrips but it's not on the Amalfi Coast.

Thanks for the responses. We are staying in Amalfi, basing this on where we want to explore. So the question is this: What is the best (most cost effective, most visually and experientually appealing) way to get to Sorrento and then to Amalfi?

Do you need to go to Sorrento for something because it is not necessary to go there to get to Amalfi. My recommendation is a taxi/car service from the airport. Others may suggest the various mass transit options none of which I have done because unlike when I was a young adult, I am a Point A to Point B person after a flight. The fewest transfers would be the Curreri Viaggi airport shuttle bus from Naples airport to Sorrento followed by the bus from Sorrento to Amalfi . My friend arrived via shuttle bus from Naples airport to Naples train station to Salerno and then the bus from Salerno to Amalfi -- way too many transfers for me. I have heard of and heard good things about a private shuttle bus service run by Pintour but I have never used it: https://www.pintourbus.com/it/acquisto-biglietti/.
