Getting from Thalys platform to a train in Brussels (Midi)

My son & I would like to book a Thalys train from Amsterdam Central with 16 minutes to switch to a (slower) train to Bruges in the Brussels Midi Station. I'm concerned that 16 minutes is not enough time, as I have never been to Brussels. What do you think? We will each have a carry-on and a large luggage with us.

Sixteen minutes should be OK - I'm not 100% sure but I think that there are stairs direct from the Thalys platforms into the main subway to the domestic platforms.

We are in Brussels now. There are 2 trains per hour to Bruges; we took one out to Bruge and back in the last couple of days. Very easy.

It should be enough time, but keep in mind that the Brussels-Bruges train is a regular inter-city train and no seat/train reservations are possible. The ticket for this segment is a "general" ticket valid for any departure. So even if you miss your connection, just hang around 30 minutes for the next train.

Philip, Cindy & Michael, you have eased my mind! I will make the reservations, today. THANK YOU so much!

It's even quicker to get off Thalys at Antwerpen and from there head to Brugge.
