Just a quick question. Planning on taking the bus from Tegel airport to Pension Peters in Savignyplatz. Where do I buy tickets for the bus and once in transit, how do I know when to get off. Do the buses announce the stops? thanks Warren
Best is to take bus X9 from Tegel airport all the way to its final destination at Bahnhof Zoo. From there take S7 train towards Wannsee and exit at the next stop which is Savignyplatz. Single fare is €2.60. You pay the bus driver upon entering the bus (try to pay the exact fare or if not possible not more than a €5 bill for a €2.60 ticket). The ticket is good for your entire journey until Savignyplatz. The bus driver doesn't expect ANY small talk with you. Just tell him "X tickts to Savignyplatz"... Generally speaking bus stops are announced. There are information panels/screens inside the bus announcing the upcoming stops.
Thank you
Hi, If you take the S-Bahn to Savignyplatz (one stop west of Bahnhof Zoo), there are two exits, Kantstraße and Bleibtreustraße. Take the Kantstraße exit.
Warren, If the Bus takes you to Bahnhof Zoo, you can easily walk to Pension Peters in about 12 minutes. Savignyplatz is slightly closer, so that's also a good option but no point in changing from the Bus to the train for such a short trip. With Bahnhof Zoo behind you, walk across the street to Kanstraße. Turn right and walk under the railway overpass and continue about three long blocks. Pension Peters will be on your left. When you pass Schwarze's Cafe, you'll know that you're close. It's a pleasant walk. You might find it helpful to "walk" the route using Google Street View so that you have some idea what it will look like. Cheers!
Thanks again for the replies. X9 bus, get off last stop.Check! We'll probably do the walk from the Zoo.
