My flight leaves 8:30......I am staying near train station....are there any options other than a taxi....or taking the tram to the waterfront early in the morning. Thanks

Since a taxi is only estimated to cost €35 (or €40 at night or on Sundays), and bus #99 from the train station does not leave early enough, taxi sounds like the best plan. Rick's book also mentions some shuttle van services which have fixed rates, but are not necessarily cheaper than a taxi. [Bus #98] runs earlier, but getting to the waterfront stop would add some effort/stress to this morning.

According to the Lignes d'Azur bus site, you could take the tram from Gare Thiers to Lycee Massena and bus #98 from there to the airport.
