I read there is a direct bus from Malaga to Tarifa on the Comes bus company, but I can't seem to find that on any of the bus websites online. We could take the Portillo bus company to Algeciras, but then you have to take a 10 minute walk to the "other" bus station for the last 20km's to Tarifa. That just seems more complicated and probably more money. Trying to help my daughter plan and make it as uncomplicated as possible. Has anyone done this trip lately? I'm wondering if there used to be a direct bus, but there no longer is? I don't want to give her mis-information, but want to get her there the most direct way possible. Thanks for any tips.
Presuming you mean Malaga city and not the airport -
http://www.tgcomes.es/horarios_3.htm Sorry, no experience, never had a need. If you google, you will probably find other permutations for Malaga to Tarifa by bus - off the top of my head, Malaga to Marbella and change, probably.
My problem is that when you go to the page where you put in like you're going to buy tickets, it says that route isn't available and gives you alternatives. For any dates that I put in. At first I thought it was because it was too far in advance, but I even tried to search for next week and the following week and I get the same message. I have Googled this until I'm blue in the face..... :-)
Sorry again, no experience for TGComes for about five years. I have never made an on-line bus ticket purchase in Spain. I have not met anyone who has. In thirty odd years of travel I have either gone to the bus station the day or two before, on the rare occasion the journey was ultra important, or thirty minutes before. Neither have I been on an interurban bus that was completely full. Is your daughter not in Malaga with enough time to make a purchase a day or two before?
No, she will arrive on a cruise ship and head straight from Malaga that day. I don't so much NEED to purchase it in advance, but I just want to make sure that I'm giving her the right information and that I don't tell her there is a direct bus and it turns out there is not.
April,
If your daughter is coming in on a cruise ship. It is likely she will arrive early. There is a TI office on the Paseo Maritimo which she will have to pass. They will have the information you seek. Here's hoping she does not go by before they open.
Yes, she's coming in on a cruise ship. That's a good suggestion. I will let her know. Thanks!
