From what I can see, there is only one way to get from Cesky Krumlov to Salzburg by train and that would cause me to lose a whole day. Is there any easy and quick alternatives?

It's not necessary to go to Salzburg by train. In fact, you have several other choices. The easiest is via Lobo, a shuttle service from downtown CK. For about 350CzK you can take an 8-passenger van down to Linz and then catch one of the frequent trains heading for Salzburg. Trip is about 1 1/2 hrs. See them at shuttlelobo.cz. They will even take you to Salzburg for a little over $100 in 3 hrs or so, but I think the first option makes the most sense. Also, there is public bus transportation - CZ bus service to Linz, and Austrian Postbus via Bad Leonfelden (my home town) to Linz. Find all at www.oebb.at
