Ouch! I just got a quote from George the Taxi guy in Athens for a ride for my family of 5 from the port at Ag. Konstantinos to Athens airport for 320 euros! We arrive at the port at 1015, and our flight is at 4pm. Does anyone have any other suggestions for how to (more economically) get from the port to the airport?
Well, it is quite a distance. You could try other on-line resources, in a quick look showed people offering transfers. There is certainly an OSE bus that makes the run that would cost about $50 in total, maybe a little more, but it may not have a schedule that matches yours and it may require taking you into the central bus station in Athens, then you still need to get to the airport. If the travel time was 3 hours, you would have issues making your flight, just getting from the bus station to the airport could chew up an hour. Quite often, there are charter buses that run from ports to towns or the airport. Another forum mentioned Alkyon Travel Agency ( http://www.alkyontravel.gr/?LANG=EN ) They are based in Agios Konstantinos and appear to operate a chartered coach to the airport. They would time their departures with the Ferries, would be direct, and probably much cheaper than "George".
Heidi, You might find it helpful to have a look at This Discussion on the subject. You might also have a look at This Website for information. If the above websites don't provide a solution, you may find it helpful to contact one of the Greek Travel Agencies listed on the above website. I used one of them for my trip last year, and found them enormously helpful. They took care of all transfers at each of my stops, and everything worked extremely well. Happy travels!
I have used the bus from Athens to Volos, which goes throuigh Agios Konstantinos, and it was a LOT cheaper than that!

First off, thanks everyone for your replies - they were very helpful. As I am back from Greece now, I am going to answer my own question, in case someone searches the archives and needs specific information. As far as I can tell, there are 4 options for getting to the port of Agios Konstantinos from Athens: 1. Drive a rental car and suffer the one way charge (with Car Hire 3000, the drop off charge was 150 euros) 2. Hire a taxi. For our family of 5, I got 3 online quotes which were 320, 330 and 400 euros (most taxis can only carry 4 people, so it would be a bit less for fewer people). Our villa proprietor had "connections" and arranged a private taxi for us for 200 euros, which is the route we took, since our airport connection was a bit tight. 3. Alkyon Travel (http://www.alkyontravel.gr/?LANG=EN) operates a coach from central Athens to Agios Konstantinos and back, which meets and drops off to each ferry and sells ferry tickets. The bus pick up is near Omonia Square at Kanigos Square. It cost 16 euro per person each way and takes approximately 2 - 2.5 hours 4. There is a bus which leaves from Terminal B Loission station, outside of central Athens. I found information about this on Matt Barrett's excellent site www.greecetravel.com and Matt emailed a response to me personally in less than a day. We had a great trip and enjoyed our time in Skiathos very much. Happy trails, everyone!
