My family (myself, wife, 2 teenage boys) are traveling to London and Paris. We are flying in and out of LHR, and we are coming back in to London on the Chunnel train the same day we are flying out (arrive St. Pancras 9:34, depart LHR 14:15). On our inbound flight we'd probably take the Heathrow Connect since our hotel is near Paddington Station. But coming back, just wondering if we should take the tube from St. Pancras to LHR or rather go to Paddington to take Heathrow Connect again. Money is not the main concern, reliability and hassle are more key. If Connect is the best way, which is easier to get between stations, tube or taxi?
Hi John... I'm from Fullerton too!! YAY!!
I would go direct to LHR from St. Pancras/ Kings Cross. You can't tell in advance of any delays, and at 2 pm, you're still avoiding some of the rush.
There's plenty of stuff to do at LHR, and you figure its about 40 minutes travel time (give or take).
Take the tube but keep Heathrow Connect as a backup.
Before you board the tube, check to make sure there are no delays on the Piccadilly line. If not, give it about an hour to get to LHR.
If there is a problem, you have Heathrow Connect as a backup.
Of course, it depends on how much luggage you have. If you are NOT packing light. Take a taxi to Paddington and get on Heathrow Connect. That would be the easiest if money is no object. The Piccadilly line is DEEP underground. And with your luck, the esclators will be out.
