getting around via public transportation

I am traveling from Siena to Virtebo....what is the easiest way to get there?

I used public transit to go to Viterbo (although from Cortona) and found the train to be the best option. It isn't fast (4-5 hours from Siena), but it was easy. Only downside was the fairly long waits between trains. Note that you'll arrive at the Porta Fiorentina station when coming from points north of Viterbo, but will depart from the Porta Romana station if heading from Viterbo to Rome (inexpensive direct train - about 2 hours).
