getting around Paris?

In Rick Steve's France book 2008 he describes how to get to the Ru cler area from the Charles De Gaulle via the Roissy - Bus to Opera Metro then the Metro 8. Can the same be used to get back to the airport? how much of a hassle is it? I will have two pieces of luggage.

Yes, you certainly can retrace your steps by taking the Metro to Opera and the Roissybus from there to CDG. The hassle factor is dependent upon the size and weight of your two pieces of luggage. If you can easily schlep them down the stairs and haul them onto the Metro, it's not a major hassle. If the bags are bulky or heavy and you don't want to contend with handling them in a potentially crowded train, take a taxi from Opera to the Rue Cler area.

I'd recommend the taxi from the Opera to Ru cler also. The bus is safe and wasn't crowded when I was on it several years ago, but the metro is a different story. Carrying luggage on the metro makes you an easy target for pickpockets.
