We have a flight out of Rome FCO at 6:15 a.m. on TH. Sept. 20. The closest hotel I can find to the FCO is 3-4 miles away. I'm assuming we have to be at the airport 2 hours early. I don't know if Rome has taxi's, metro or buses that run that early. I still haven't booked the hotel but I don't think any of them have shuttles that run that early from what I've seen so far. If you have any ideas I'd appreciate your help! Thank You!

I don't know what you want to spend for a hotel but there is a Hilton Hotel at the airport. It has a moving sidewalk right into the airport. I was going to book it for our last night but if I read the conditions correctly, it says no cancellations or you will be charged. Rather strange if you can't cancel without a penalty if your travel plans change. If you find something let me know. Our flight leaves Rome at 8:00 so would need a taxi/shuttle at 5:15 am from downtown Rome. Taxi's are now 40 euro - per Italy law that has been passed or something like that. The airport shuttles were 50 euro.

I have the same departure time at Malpensa (Milan) and what I did was look for a hotel near the airport that said "24 hour shuttle/taxi to airport". I found the hotel I needed through Venere.com, hopefully you will too.

I have a 7 a.m. departure from CDG in Paris, and made an arrangement with my landlady to drive me there. Very expensive, but that's the price of one extra day in Paris and is worth it to me. Check with the hotel and see if they can arrange trasportation for you at that time.

I had a similar flight in Rome. My hotel prearranged a Taxi for me. It was a hotel downtown hotel. Have a great trip!

Don't worry about staying close to the airport. If you are at a hotel in Rome, they can arrange a taxi for you and there is virtually no traffic that early. There is a fixed rate of 40 Euro for taxis from central Rome to the airport. We just did this a month ago for a 6:15am flight from FCO.
