Ok this is going to sound silly perhaps but I purchased a twin rail pass on the DB Bahn website. Will they mail me my pass? Or am I to pick it up when I get to Germany and then book all the individual legs?

Didn't you note what they told you at the time you purchased the pass? They will probaby mail you the pass.

In most cases, if you have a German Rail pass, you simply write in the date and get on the train. Very few German trains require reservations. If you want a reservation, you can get it at the ticket counter.
