can I buy Rome-Munich tickets through German website (bahn.de) online with CC from the US? Is it easier to buy online via German website vs. Italian (trenitalia) from US? What is easiest--foolproof way to do this online? thanks, Elaine

Hi Elaine,
The German website is very user-friendly. I encountered no problems buying tickets on their site using the English version. And yes, you should be able to make a purchase for a journey that starts or ends in Germany.
Don't even bother with Trenitalia. It currently does not allow U.S. purchases. (Search the helpline for many frustrated conversations on this subject!)
