Germany for 7 days, need help with rail options

I am flying from Geneva to Berlin on Sep 14th, then planning on going to Frankfurt Sep 17th. I meet my girlfriend in Frankfurt, 7AM on the 18th (Saturday), and we are going to Bacharach for the 18th and 19th. Monday, the 20th, we leave for Munich, where we are spending the following 5 nights (20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25) before leaving for Frankfurt in the morning on Saturday and leaving for the US again the following morning.

We are both 24 and students. We want to take ICE trains for the longer trips to maximize our time.

So, I have some questions about the smartest way to go about our transportation...
I think that buying tickets at the 92 days in advance could be a good plan, with each at 29 EUR. This would be 3 trips (FRA - Bacharach, Bach - Mun, Mun - Frankfurt) for ~100EUR PP, but we are also taking a KD cruise for 27EUR RT PP, and using a Lander ticket for the day trip to Fussen/Linderhof.** So this is around 160-180EUR for the whole trip, excluding local transportation like buses/trams/subways. This is on par with a 4 or 5 day German Rail Pass. I don't know if I am being accurate with actual transportation costs, but it seems that either/or could be a good idea, and the flexibility of the rail pass could be beneficial.

I am also wondering what kind of daily costs we would see using the local city transportation to get around. We are spending most of our time in Munich, so would the 3 day unlimited bus/tram/sub pass be worthwhile? Or are most of the sites and POIs within walking distance of each other?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

**Note that I am in Berlin solo beforehand, but will probably just be buying a PtP ticket for 29EUR again from Berlin to Frankfurt.

Also, is it possible to do Fussen and Linderhof in one day without getting frustrated? If so, which is smarter to do first?

We plan on seeing taking a K-D cruise Sunday, plus trips to Dachau during the week and Fussen/Linderhof on Friday. We want to spend about 3/4 of a day to a full day exploring Oktoberfest, but would prefer doing it during the week versus Friday. I am open to suggestions in changing my itin. Also, we were thinking of adding a 4-5 hour stopover in Wurzburg to see the Residenz and do the RS walk there before continuing on to Munich.

Boy, you've ask a lot of questions.

Frankfurt to Bacharach would not need an ICE. A point-point RMV (Frankfurt metro) ticket at €10,30 is all you need.

You could use Sparpreis tickets at (€29 up) for Bacharach-Munich and Munich- Frankfurt. There are other options.

For the day trip, I think you are talking about Munich-Füssen-Linderhof-Munich. If you watch the schedule, it is possible. There is a bus from Hohenschwangau with a change in Oberammergau to Linderhof. All are covered by a Bayern-Ticket, for €28.

In Munich, virtually everything is within the Innenraum (1st zone) and a €9,40 Tagesticket will cover everything for a day for up to 5 people. Dachau is in the second zone, and a Munich XXL Parner day ticket, €12,30, will cover you for a day.
