Germany by Chunnel

Since airfare to London is so much cheaper (approx $200) then Germany (approx $800), we're thinking of London 2 days, Paris 2 days and then Germany for a week. Does that seem a good idea or are added costs for staying in London/Paris and resulting train needs not worth it?

Added cost? Compared to what? Just going to Germany for a week?

If you want to see London and Paris then it's worth it. If you're adding days, then yes it will cost more to visit London and Paris. If you're taking days away from Germany to visit London and Paris, well, it depends on where in Germany you're going, but Germany is probably cheaper than London or Paris.

We need more information..

Considering that about the cheapest Eurostar adult fare is €67, and the lowest Paris-Frankfurt fare is €39 (Europa-Spezial, non-refundable), London-Paris-Frankfurt and return is going to cost at least $280, maybe a lot more. If you actually want to go to Germany and are just doing it to save on fare, I don't think it would be worth it. However, if you wanted to see London and Paris, this is a way to do the transportation part for about the same price or less as just Germany.

Sorry, my air costs listed are not correct! I guess I can just about go to London for same price as Munich. However, I really liked the idea of seeing London and Paris on the way to Germany. Maybe worth the extra cost. Thanks so much.

Check the cost of open-jaw (multi-city) plane tickets (home-London, Munich-home). They're often about the same as a roundtrip ticket--and you won't have the time and expense of backtracking to London.

At today's exchange rate the cheapest single (one-way) fare for London-Paris on the Eurostar is £51 ($75 US). To get it you must book as far in advance as possible (up to 120 days) and register on the Eurostar site as a resident of the UK.
