German train reservations for family of 6

I've been looking at train reservations on the bahn.de website and I've only been able to get reservations for up to 5 people. It says group rate begin with 6 people, but I can't find a place to do group rates. Am I doing something wrong or will I just have to split us up for reservations? I know I'll have to split us to use Laender tickets.

I could have sworn I've been able to email Bahn.de. See if you can email them an enquiry.

If no response, then assume you split up.

There is a group rate (discount of 50% or more) for six or more persons, but I don't know of any website where you can get it. You can get a 50% discount on express or regional trains at any counter up until 1 hr before train time. You can also get 60% and 70% discounts with advance purchase 7 or 14 days ahead resp. for express trains. For US residents, that might mean calling the Bahn in Germany at +49 1805 996633.

If you can read German, click here.

Are you looking for actual tickets, or just for seat reservations?

The group rate (50%) is just for tickets.

Seat reservations, alone, are €4 for one person, online or at a counter. There is also rate for seat reservations for an entire family , €8 online or at a counter.

If all you are looking for are seat reservations, you can usually get them there.

As for "splitting you" to use Länder tickets, yes, for more than five people you will need more than one Länder ticket, but since the Länder tickets are for regional trains, and with few exceptions there are no reservations on regional trains, just sit where you find space, it doesn't matter how many.
