German rail tickets

My husband and I will be flying from London to Munich and then will take a train to Kempten to meet my father. My father would like to know when to meet us in Kempten (he doesn't have a cell phone), but I am hesitant to buy a train ticket for a specific train in case we have a flight delay. Does anyone know if you can buy an "any train/any time" kind of ticket? I am guessing if such a ticket exists it would be expensive.
Any help would be appreciated.

Checking the Deutsche Bahn website, it looks like from the airport to Kempten, there's at least two options every hour, any one of them under 30 euros. Just buy your tickets when you arrive.

You are looking for a ticket that will get you to Kempten at a specified time, no matter how late your flight is? It can't be done at any price.

If you just want to get there as soon as possible, the full fare via express train (EC) is €31 per person; the trip will take just over 2½ hrs.

However, you might have to wait for the next EC longer than it would take to get to Kempten by an all regional connection. There are many more of these connections, they aren't much slower, and, as long as you leave the airport after 9 AM workdays, both of you can make the trip with a €28 Bayern-Ticket purchasable from the automats in the airport S-Bahn station.

In Munich?

Don't wait until you get into Munich to get your regional ticket to Kempten. From the airport to Kempten via the Hbf is €28,101 pP. From the Hauptbahnhof to Kempten is only €22,70, a difference of €5,40, but from the airport to the Hauptbahnhof, an MVV ticket is €9,60 pP. It would be more expensive to purchase the S-Bahn ticket into town and the ticket from town to Kempten separately.

Still, the best deal is a Bayern-Ticket purchased at the airport. It will cover the S-Bahn into Munich and a regional train from Munich to Kempten, and any other rail and regional bus transportation for you and your husband (and your father when you meet him) for the rest of the day.

1 Actually, the least expensive fare (€27,50 pP) from the airport to Kempten is a ticket which takes you via the S1 to Laim, then to Pasing, not through the Hbf.
