According to Seat 61, Deutsche Bahn has announced that it will end all City Night Line sleeper services by the mid-December 2016 timetable changeover. Looks like they've given up on trying to make money off them in the era of high-speed day trains and budget flights. Apparently Austrian State Railways will continue operating its trains from Vienna to Hamburg and Koeln, and has shown interest in possibly taking over the routes from Muenchen to Italy.
