Genoa to Nice

I am planning to travel from Genoa to Nice in May and was hoping to travel by train. I understand that I need to break the journey in Ventimiglia but I can only find one train a day that leaves late evening.I was hoping to take advantage of the coastal scenery by travelling during the day time. Can anyone help?

Michael,

Go to http://www.trenitalia.com National RR for Italy

Genova Piazza Principe-Ventimeglia Intercity trains run every 2 hours, journey time 2H12m. Regional trains also
run every 2 hours time-3H31m These are less expensive. Time, Ventimeglia-Nice 46m

Michael, I suspect that you are looking out past 12/15. There are several more train runs per day. Trenitalia refreshes their schedules twice yearly - mid-June and mid-December. They are notoriously tardy in doing this leading many travelers to believe that there are no trains. My snapshot link below shows the current schedule with fares to Ventimiglia. Trenitalia is not good at showing Genova/Nice Ville. In general, there are no fast trains on this run. Just Regionales and Intercity trains.

The Trenitalia site doesn't show trains from Ventimiglia to Nice because they are operated by SNCF (French National Rail}.

To see detailed timetables for the whole route, use the German Rail site. You'll have lots of departure times from which to choose. Enter a date within the near future corresponding to the day of the week you wish to travel.
