Trying to find a good way to get from Italy ( Cinque Terre ) to Barcelona. Has anyone taken the ferry (19 hours). Found one early flight on Veuling from Genoa. Other ideas? Or should we change our itinerary and fly out somewhere else. We plan to fly into Bologna - meeting a friend who lives in Ravenna, also visit Florence and then Cinque Terre.
19 hours wasted at sea would be too much for me considering the numerous flight options you have which would take 1 hr only probably at a cheaper price.
Vueling flies to BCN from: Pisa (PSA), Genoa (GOA), and of course Milan, Florence and Bologna, which are a bit farther.
PSA is the closest airport to the Cinque Terre (about 1.5 hours by train+shuttle, or 1hr by car), however also GOA is about the same distance (in the opposite direction) as the Cinque Terre are located about half way between the two.
We flew from Barcelona to Genoa on Vueling a few years ago. I looked at every other means of getting to Genoa, including a French overnight train. Flying ended up just making more sense.
Thanks. I will look again. Trip is not until Sept., and so far, except for one flight quite early, all others involved crazy lay overs of up to 11 hours and arriving quite late in Barcelona. May just have to bite the bullet and get ourselves out of Cinque terre to the Airport quite early. Have time, and will keep looking. I certainly prefer flying!
