Amsterdam!

Geneva is dull, dull, dull. And expensive. Amsterdam is easy to get to from Paris. It has wonderful museums and beautiful scenery. And the Dutch people are warm and hospitable.

I vote Amsterdam also. Select you hotel well for proximity to sights and you will be delighted. Parts of city can be gritty and bawdy but easily ignored.

A'Dam. Stop in Brugge, Belgium for a day on the way to or from A'Dam.

If these are the only choices.....A'dam, by default. Have you thought about any other possibilities?

Thanks for all your replies...
I am thinking of doing Amsterdam and Brugge, spending 2 days in Amsterdam and a day in Brugge.
Any thoughts on the commute between Amsterdam to Brugge.
Thanks,
Vimal

There is a high speed train from Paris to Amsterdam (also other cities), however you need an advance reservation. (raileurope.com)

To get to Amsterdam from Brugge, try the Dutch website for trains www.nshispeed.nl. This is for international trains and has an English option at the top (and will most likely switch to Dutch once you select a journey). You don't need to buy your ticket before, but it can give you an idea of the times, prices, and journey. I believe you either have to switch trains or just have a stop in Antwerp or even Brussels~4 hour trip. The trip through the Dutch countryside can be slow with many stops, but Brugge is one of my favorite cities and a must-see. I agree with seeing Amsterdam over Geneva, but I am biased since I have lived there for the last few years.

Hi Kathy,
I did try to book the ticket on the Dutch Site..but expect the search screens all the other screens are in Dutch. I managed to book the tickets on Rail Europe..all though i believe i ended paying way more there.
Thanks for the reply,
