Anyone had recent experience entering the UK via Gatwick Airport. What kind of experience did you have through immigration and customs with respect to time? Thanks.
I think Gatwick is not as busy as Heathrow. It took me about 30-45 minutes to go thru passport control/customs. I'm accounting that I had a carry on, so as soon as we disembarked, I strolled right up while the majority of the plane was still getting their stuff.
Eric,
You'll exit the plane and head to passport control first. Here it will depend on where you were sitting on YOUR plane and then how many other planes just landed. I've been as quick as 10 minutes through here (traveling 1st class that day), and as long as 45 minutes.
After you clear passport control, you will head to baggage claim and that will probably depend on how many pieces you have, how many other planes are also arriving, and a litany of other factors... Again, I've been lucky and my luggage was waiting on me - and other times I've waited 20-40 minutes.
Once you have your luggage, exit out the "Nothing to Declare Doors" and you're in the terminal, ready for your transport out of the airport... hope that helps!
Ciao,
Ron
