I need to transfer from Gare du Lyon to Gare Montparnasse, what metro line should I take? Approximately how long a trip is that? I have an hour and a half between trains.

There is no direct metro between the two, but you can take line 14 to Bercy followed by line 6.
Alternatively, bus 91.
Or a taxi, it won't break the bank.

Most ways shown by the RATP, are in the 35 to 45 minute range, including walking to and from the stations/bus stops.
