Just a heads up because I feel like I should share this with someone else & maybe it's already been discussed here... but out of at least some US cities (I know at least Cincinnati & Atlanta) flights to some European cities (like Paris & Rome) are CRAZY cheap with United today.... like $350! Looks like this is on flights through April-ish. I'm not sure if it's a glitch in their system or what, but thought I should share with someone else to take advantage of, too!! Happy traveling!
Not a glitch, just great prices. I just booked Chicago to Paris for next May for $472.
Omg adonaho thank you!!! We were going to buy tickets today SF-Paris on another airline but, if what I just saw on United's website is correct, United is a better deal than the budget airlines. I'm going to investigate further but wanted to thank you!!
Denver to Paris in April was $500
The ones I've just checked from Tulsa to Venice and Milan were not round trip. So a $900+ trip to Milan for 2 seniors works out to $3700 round trip.
On closer look, United was still much higher than what we were looking at with another airline and ended up buying. Thank you though.
Looks like it's not a great deal for every city - but I just booked one for $390 from Cincinnati to Paris today (round trip, taxes included, that was the total cost) - so there are good deals to be had if you're booking out of the right city! Glad you were able to find the best deal for you regardless, Susan!!
Yes, I have taken advantage of these great deals - Unbelievable prices. Chicago to Dublin $500 round trip end of May and Chicago to Zurich in July for $800. I can afford to go to Europe twice this year! I usually fly into London each summer but could not find any deals for Heathrow. Instead, I decided to fly to Dublin and use Ryan air to fly into England. I am saving myself about 3,000 dollars on just a couple of tickets.
MrsEB, yes, nonstop, RT including taxes and fees. It was actually $471.60.
The back room employees at the airlines establishing some great airfares, and surely not by design, have skipped some airports.
MrsEB - Yes, I've lived in Cincy the majority of my life and this airport has always frustrated me with its prices! I actually already had my flight to Paris for December booked, using my Delta miles - so when I found this United deal, I canceled that flight to get my miles back & bought the cheaper option. I'll be going to Italy in the Summer, so now I can use those miles for that flight instead - essentially just saved myself $1000 (as this time last year I was in Italy & paid about $1400 for that flight). Yay for a good deal!
Oh! And United has me connecting in DC on the way there and Chicago on the way home. My Delta flight was direct to Paris, so that's a bummer.... but the connection times are only 1.5 hrs, and again to save that much cash is well worth it.
United is targeting Delta's hubs. It's a good deal if you can use one of the hubs and tough luck for everyone else.
The deals sound great. Please add the name of the airline when you mention prices - helps a lot! I'm looking for tickets next July from Minneapolis into either Frankfurt, Milan, Rome, Naples or ??? and home from Paris. Looks like it's not too early to buy.
Would appreciate info about the inter European airlines. I have used Ryan Air, Vueling?, and Austria Air in the past but it's been a few years.
Thanks, Barb
I had been looking for a few months now for travel to Spain fo a family reunion in July. Ended up booking (4) economy tickets for $683 R/T MIA - CDG non-stop on Air France Neither my wife and I have ever been to Paris so I figure we will enjoy it for a few days before heading to Galicia. I ended up signing up for a Gold sky miles Amex (Costco took mine away) which gave me 50,000 miles and a $200 credit. Between that and an old voucher I had for Delta I thought we did pretty good.
Great job, migalo! I am doing sort of the same. My real destination is Madrid, but I am flying into Paris and will have about 12 hours to spend there before my Easy Jet flight on to MAD. On the way back, I will have an afternoon and evening in Paris before my flight home. The total for my two Easy Jet flights was $115.
I'm not finding anything under $1800 per person for Tulsa - Venice; Milan - Tulsa for next June. I'm going to try using another computer, or clearing the cookies on this one. Prices have only been going up as long as I've been checking.
@Jane, I've been checking with multiple computers, no cookies, etc., and haven't seen any significant changes in fares from KC.
What should be noted is that fare sales tend to be brief and for limited destinations/dates, so just because someone found a good deal yesterday for X-to-Y it won't necessarily be the same when you try to book the same flight a month later.
I just booked a flight for early May 2017 from Hartford (BDL) to Dublin on Aerlingus for $506. We will be staying in Dublin for a couple of days, and then proceeding to England to join the RS Villages of Southern England tour.
Bob, that's a great tour. And a great price on your airfare!
