What is the best way to get from Vienna to Zagreb? I will be making that trip in September, after saying goodbye to my friend whose flight leaves at 11:15 AM.

Hi, There is a direct train connection dep at 1602 from the Wien Meidling station, takes ca.6 hrs. via Graz. I would do that instead of detouring out to Villach and having to transfer there. Which train station in Vienna (Wien) is nearest to you? If you're at Westbahnhof (the west train station), you can get to Meidling by taking the subway, U-6

I will be at the airport in the morning and would be ready to go from there to the railway station. When should I buy my rail ticket and can I buy it on the internet? I will be leaving Vienna around Sept.7-8. Thanks!
