From Venice to Greece?

I will be in Venice for a week during the summer of 2008 with my family (4 of us; teenagers+us oldsters). I would like to continue on to Greece for another week or two.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to get from Venice to Greece? Would a ferry be possible? What will be the approximate price and time required?

Should we consider visiting Croatia in between Venice and Greece?

Any advice would be very welcome! Thanks!

There are ferries from Venice to Greece.

However, it is very difficult to go from Croatia to Greece. There are no ferries and buses/trains are not very extensive.

You could Ferry Venice to Croatia, then Croatia over to Bari, Italy; (or Ancona, Italy) then on to Greece. Otherwise, if you drop Croatia, consider a budget airline from somewhere in Italy to Athens. By ferry and whatever combination of ground that you need, figure pretty much two full days and a night for Venice to Athens.

I traveled from Venice to Greece on the ferry, a few years ago and loved the experience. I met some very interesting and helpful people from Greece as well as others getting on and off as the Ferry when it docked in different locations. The accommodations were fine. There were several places to purchase food on the ferry and sitting on the top deck in the evening watching the sun set on the Adriatic was unforgettable. Hum – let’s see – I recommend this experience for anyone, it won’t be archived in the memory bank and never retrieved. It will be unforgettable.
Enjoying the memory as I write!
