I won't be going to Europe this year, but I'm passing this Points Guy article dated 31 March 2023 and titled: " Here’s when European airports and trains are set to strike this spring" on for those who will. I hope you can get to it okay, especially since it says, " Editors note: This page will be updated as new information emerges."
Thanks for the specific dates. On Friday, March 31, the first day of the Heathrow strike I had an early morning BA flight out of LHR Terminal 5 to Milan. My flight was not cancelled. You could see lots of admin and support staff on duty at the airport but security checks seemed to be working and moving. But this was at 5:15 AM so maybe by later in the day it was more notable. Our flight left on time but once on board the pilot announced that the flight would take slightly longer than usual since we would be avoiding and diverting around French airspace due to their air traffic controllers’ strike.
Yep. Our flight home to France from Naples for yesterday, April 2, was cancelled due to the French air controllers slow down. We are doing a workaround flying to another city and hoping to get a train home.
Don't move around too much unless you build in some flexibility time. Pack insurance, emergency money, and time.
Yes, I saw this article too. We are leaving for Portugal on April 12th. So far it appears that our airline TAP the pilots are threatening a strike or will at Easter. Then we have train tickets to go from Lisbon to Porto. The train folks are currently striking through April 6th. I keep getting updates from the train at least. So now I'm researching rental cars "just in case".
You could get the Rede Expressos coach or Flixbus from Lisbon to Porto
Thanks Lo! Hopefully no strikes at MUC in June.
Well don't hold your breath on that article being updated and correct, it is supposedly dated 31 March, but still lists the last 2 rail strikes, which had been cancelled for a week by then.
