We are flying into Paris and renting a car at CDG, then driving directly to Normandy. From there, we will go over to the Loire Valley. Instead of driving back into CGD, I'd like to turn in the car in the Loire Valley and then take a train into Paris. We are staying in the Rue Cler area in Paris. Where is the best place to turn the car in and catch the train and then what station takes us closest to the Rue Cler area? Thanks in advance for your help!
You can easily turn in the car at St Pierre des Corps, the suburban Tours TGV station. By TGV, it is an hour to Paris by bullet train. You will arrive at the Gare Montparnasse, a huge station underneath the ugly skyscraper Tour Montparnasse. From there you can either take the Metro, or a taxi. Arriving in a city with luggage I always pay a little extra for a taxi, but I suppose the Metro would be cheaper even for two people. There are other possibilities, but this one gives you the fastest train into central Paris. From any of the mainline Paris rail stations, you will face the same issue of Metro or taxi as none are close enough to the Rue Cler to walk easily carrying luggage.
Thanks so much!
