From Seville to ??

I have some time in Spain this August, and have a decision to make. After 4 weeks in various places in Europe, I will find myself in Seville and needing a place to go for the next week or so.

Option 1: Head to the Algarve coast in Portugal and then to Lisbon, and back home.

Option 2: Head to Toledo, stay a couple of nights, and then to Madrid, and back home.

This will be the last leg of my trip, and I would love to add Portugal to my travels. Is the Portugal option feasible? How much of a headache would it be to go from Seville to Portugal, and is one week enough to enjoy the south, with enough time to enjoy Lisbon??

Many thanks!!!

I'd pick Portugal, especially since that seems to be your preference. Maybe 2 full days in the Algarve, the rest in Lisbon with a day in Sintra.

If you want to see Portugal, then go for it. A week or more is enough time. It's not easy to get there from Seville, but your not just planning a weeked trip either. I'd reserve at least 3 days for Lisbon, more if you plan some day trips.

Do you plan any time in Madrid itself? If not, then you are missing one of the great destinations of Europe. The Algarve will be JAMMED with people in August. Madrid, too, will be busy, but there's so much to do there....never mind day trips to Segovia, Toledo, Avila. My vote is head for Madrid (there's no direct route from Sevilla to Toledo) and do day trips from there.

I Modified my schedule a little bit and cut out Valencia. I have 3 nights in Madrid, regardless of my decision. If I choose to skip Portugal, I would get Granada, Seville, Toledo and another city in Spain - suggestions?

If I choose Portugal, I get a night train to Lisbon and then stay for 3 nights. I also get Algarve for 2 or 3 nights.

I would either fly home out of Lisbon or Madrid

So I guess my dilemma is whether or not to get more of spain (plus options for my last visit in spain before I head to Madrid to fly home), or less of spain and Portugal.

Don't miss Cordova, about an hour from Seville and well worth a visit.

Thanks Everyone. I think I'm all set. I'm leaving out Portugal.

Spain itinerary is Barc-Madrid-Sevilla-Granada-Madrid. Day trips to Toledo, Cordoba, Segovia or El Escorial.

Of course, the easy solution for all of this is to just take an extra week or so of vacation!!!
