I will be arriving via cruise ship to port town of Livorno in August. How do I get to entrance of hiking trail of Cinque Terre?

It depends on which end you think the trail begins. Some start their hikes at Monterosso which is the most difficult of the 4 trails. Most begin in Riomaggiore and walk north. The first trail from Riomaggiore to Manarola can take 25 minutes. It usually takes longer because you will stop and admire the beauty and to take pictures. This trail is mostly flat. The second trail from Manarola to Corniglia takes about 35 mintues to the train station. You can then take the train to Vernazza or Monterosso.
The Livorno train station is about 2/3 of a mile from the Livorno port. Once there, there are frequent trains north to Riomaggiore. Not sure when your ship docks or when you need to return. CLICK HERE to see a typical morning train schedule from Livorno Centrale to Riomaggiore.
