Hi Everyone, I am planning to take an overnight ferry from London to Amsterdam with a stop in Lisse for the Keukenhof Gardens for half a day. Since the ferry lands at the Hook of Holland, what train/bus do i take to get to the Keukenhof Gardens? From the Keukenhof Gardens, how do I get to Amsterdam?

We're doing the same ferry in late April, Minh, and you have the choice of bus or train right from the ferry terminal. Check Stena Lines website for options once you arrive or www.nsnl (Dutch train system) for train options/schedule/fares in more detail. You'll probably want the train which from the ferry will take you to Schiedam/Rotterdam, then you have lots of choices. You might even find at Rotterdam station 'VVV' (travel info office/wicket) a combination 'deal' including rail/bus/entry fee to Keukenhof which will probably involve Rotterdam to Leiden by train, bus from Leiden (thru Lisse)to Keuk. After your visit, train to Amsterdam. What might be a problem is what to do with your luggage but I'd be surprised if Leiden station didn't have lockers. You've other choices involving Den Haag/Lisse/Haarlem/etc. but with a map and the 'nsnl' website you can sort out what's best for you.

Minh,unless you speak Dutch, the www.nsnl won't help you a lot, sorry, it's been awhile. Google 'nl trains' which will bring you a choice of 'SuperHomeEnglish', click it and away you go; in English. Some good route maps/stops enroute/etc. are included in the various screens available to query/search.

Thanks for the advice. Looking at the ww.ns.nl web, there is a link on top for the english version. Now, we just need to find out if Leiden Central has storage lockers and we are set.

Minh, the Keuk site says they have baggage check at the park as well. Might want to check further and then consider taking the bus from Keuk direct to Amsterdam rather than backtracking to Leiden. See the bus options on the Keud website. Pray for sun; Keuk's a bit dismal in the rain but still a sight to behold regardless.
