From Cinque Terre to Limoges!!

I will be spending some time in Cinque Terre next Spring and then have to get to Limoges, France. Are there any connections to Lyon or nearby from Genoa or is the only way to go to Milan for connections into FranceÉ Any help would be appreciated

The best European train timetable site is www.bahn.de. Click on the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner for English. Either leave the date as it is or enter a date within the next few weeks. Enter La Spezia Centrale as your departure point and Limoges-Benedictins as your arrival point. After you get summary timetables, click on "Details for all" to see the connecting points. You'll find that some routes go through Genova and some go through Milan. For even more detail, click on "Show intermediate stops" for the route(s) of your choice. It's a long ride with many changes!

Thank you for your insights. Looks like there is no easy AND inexpensive way to get there. Thanks again.

You're welcome!

If you can travel on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday, there is an easier, faster, and cheaper way. Take an early train (before 05:00) from the Cinque Terre to Genova. Fly myair from Genova to Paris CDG, leaving at 09:15 and arriving at 10:45. Booked far enough in advance, the fare can be as low as .01€ (plus taxes and fees). Take a train from Paris to Limoges.

Or spend the night in Genova if you don't want to take a chance on a train delay causing you to miss your flight.

If Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday won't work, you could fly Milan Malpensa-Paris CDG on easyJet or Malpensa-Paris Orly on Volareweb. Or fly Milan Linate-CDG on Meridiana or Linate-Orly on easyJet.

All of these are budget airlines so pay close attention to luggage size and weight limits and check-in deadlines. If you miss the deadline, you forfeit your ticket. And the longer you wait to book, the higher the fare.

Once again, many thanks. The only flights I could find were very expensive therefore I was trying train routes. I'll look into these airlines once our plans are tighten up as to days, etc.
