From CDG to Gare St. Lazare

The route that I'd suggest would be the RER "B" to Chatelet and then the Metro to Gare St. Lazare. One point to mention is that you will need a "chip" credit card to buy RER tickets from the automated machines at CDG, but without that you could still buy tickets at the staffed ticket office (might be a bit of a queue though). Check This website for all the details.

The station Chatelet is part of a "super transfer station", Chatelet Les-Halles. As I recall, there's a bit of a walk between the different parts of the station (often with some great violin players, etc. along the way). When you get to Chatelet, look for Metro Line 14, direction St. Lazare. When you reach that, there's again a bit of a walk to get to Gare St. Lazare (lots of escalators so it's not too bad).

Some of the others in the group may have different suggestions, but this is the method I'd use.

Ginny, I asked the R/S tour dept the same question and their answer as well as others on this site recommended the following. I am using this route next week to get to Bayeux.
From CDG take the Roissy-Bus that runs about every 15 minutes from CDG to the Opera Garnier stop. Takes about 50 minutes and about 9€. From the Garnier station you can either walk about 8 minutes to the Gare St. Lazare station or take Metro Line 3-direction Pont de Levallois and get off the 2nd stop which is St. Lazare.
Google Roissy Bus for more info. It will work and is probably the easiest way.

If you want to avoid the "maze" at Chatelet-Les Halles and Chatelet, take the RER B from CDG to Gare du Nord. Walk through the connecting tunnels to the Magenta RER station and take the RER E to Haussmann-St Lazare. Then take a very short walk to Gare St Lazare. The fare is €8.50.
