From Brugges to Amsterdam

Do I need to book train tickets from Brugges to Amsterdam in advance? Someone said that we can just buy tickets at InterCity train station to go from Brugges to Antwerp and then to Amsterdam. Is this still true? Can someone who traveled to Europe this year answer this question? Thanks in advance.

There are two ways to get to Amsterdam from Bruges. You can take the regular inter-city trains, which require no reservations and you can simply purchase tickets at the station on the day of your journey. Or you can use the high-speed Thalys train (which will be a bit faster) on the on the Antwerp to Amsterdam segment of the journey. Thalys uses airline style pricing so the sooner you book the cheaper it will be. For fares and schedules head here: http://www.nshispeed.nl/en

Your informnation is outdated. There are no longer direct trains between Antwperpen and Amsterdam, it takes at least one further connection. Your best option is to buy a Thalys ticket Antewerpen-Amsterdam + a regional sector to Antwerpen.
