Just want to warn travelers that after a two-day strike last week, the French air traffic controller are planning two more work stoppages on April 16-18 & April 29-May 2. This will cause cancellations across Europe, since even flights that don't land in France but go through French airspace can be affected. See this report from Radio France International.
Thanks! We don't go to Europe until May 12, but Italy has been striking too. I think this may be a hit and miss all over Europe this summer. Wish that Rick Steves site would put the news warning out a head of time. Doesn't do any good to find out the day of.
Italy, at least, has a website, in Italian of all upcoming transportation strikes. If you want a non-comprehensive English version, you can check here and here
The strike for April 16-18 has been called off, but there is still a chance for a strike April 29-May 2. See this article in The Independent.
We fly home on Monday may 11.......Mondays seem like non-strike days?
Eric, Thanks for the strike in Italy information, we now have it in all our devices for our trip! Life saver. I am not sure how all you smart travelers find out about all these different sites, thank you all!
Someone in France is always on strike it seems. If you plan to fly to France during air traffic controller strikes, change your plans and land in a nearby country and take the train in so not to interrupt your plans.
It's official. The last of the threatened French air traffic controller's strikes has been called off. This one was scheduled for April 29th-May 2nd. See this article in the Independent for more details.
