"Free" TSA Pre-Check (one explanation)

If you carry a military ID card, the number listed on the front of the card (not your benefits number on the back of the card) is considered a "known traveler" or "trusted traveler" number for TSA Pre-Check purposes. You can fill this number in on your frequent-flyer profile, or on your ticket-purchase profile. "Free" TSA Pre-Check!

I was told only active duty - the "DoD" number on a CAC card.

I'm a spouse of a retiree. Nothing in the literature says Active Duty only.

yes, the spouse of an "a.D."...außer Dienst.
