My wife and I are flying back to Canada from Frankfurt later in September. We arrive in frankfurt around 8PM and our flight leaves mid morning the next day.
Can anyone suggest a hotel reasonably close to the airport but but also close enough to the city to give us a chance to see some of the city. Thanks.

What city do you really feel you need to see. Several years ago, I was flying out of Frankfurt in the morning and spent the night in Mainz, including an afternoon walk down to the Rhine river bank and a tour of the 800 year old cathedral there.
There are three hotels Hammer, Schottenhof, and Königshof) within short walking distance across the Bahnhofplatz from the main station, which is only a short S-Bahn trip (27min, €3,60) to the airport.

The airport is easily reached from the city with frequent trains. They take about 15 minutes and costs about 3.50€. The hotels near the airport are usually more expensive. There are quite a few lovely hotels in Frankfurt as you can imagine and contrary to what Lee thinks, there is a lot to see and do here. I will be happy to help you with a hotel choice if you would like to write to me. A lot depends on what you want to spend and the dates. We just had someone else on these boards coming in Sept. during one of the biggest trade fairs and rooms were not only scarce, they were over the top expensive.
