Frankfurt Europcar Rental Advice Please?

Hello Travel Friends, We will be renting a car (Passat with automatic) through Europcar at Frankfurt, Germany in late November. Our arrival at Frankfurt is 9:15am from Newark. Wondering if we should save $167 and get our rental through Europcar's Ludwig-Landmann-Str. 399 location, as opposed to the airport rental site? The taxi fare to the offsite location looks like it could be in the $20 - $30 range each way. If you have rented at either of these locations would you please advise us as to ease of use of these 2 sites (ie crowded? number of available cars? travel ease and taxi cost of going to the Ludwig-Landmann Str. rental site?) Also, what time would you recommend us for pick up of the car for based on arriving at Frankfurt at 9:15am, disembarking, customs and getting our luggage (assuming the flight is on time)? And how much extra buffer time for a possibly late flight? (We're flying out of Newark the Monday after Thanksgiving.) And also any other advice that you think would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Are you renting the car directly from the Europcar website or through a rental car broker such as AutoEurope or Kemwel?

TaxiFareFinder estimates 40 EUR range.

You could also take the S-Bahn to the Hauptbahnhof and change to an No 6 S-Bahn to Frankfurt West station and take a taxi from there. 4.80 EUR for per person plus 10 to 12 EUR for the taxi.

Finally, S-Bahn to Hauptbahnhof, then the No 17 Tram to Leonardo da Vinci Allee, then No 34 bus to Sternbruecke, then a walk of 200 yds. All for 4.80 EUR per person.

The S-Bahn trains go from the airport Regionalbahnhof every 15 minutes

Hello, We took Rick Steve's suggestion on auto rental and we are booking through AutoEurope. Thank you to the reader who offfered the detailed option of taking trains! We've almost always used trains on our past trips to Europe, but unfortunately we will be traveling to some areas of Germany where a car is the best option. Thank you!

I'm sorry Sam, I just re-read your post and I see now that you were offering less expensive ways to get to the car rental. We'll take a look at those routes! Thank you!

You should try renting off site of the airport but returning car to the airport. (Saving you the expense and hassle of getting back to the airport). I have done this numerous times (Munich, France and Norway) and never been charged an additional fee for returning to the airport. You can check it by putting in a different drop off location. When I did Norway, it took a day or two for Autoeurope to let me know if there was a drop off fee for leaving a different location than I picked up. (there wasn't) All airport surcharges are charged at pick up. It does not cost extra to return to an airport.
