We will be flying into the Frankfurt airport then taking a train to Paris. How much time should I allow between arriving and getting the train? What is the best train to take?
With only carry-on luggage and coming into Terminal 1 (Lufthansa or Star Alliance), I've always managed to get through Immigration and out to the Fernbahnhof within an hour. The "best" train depends on when you arrive. Use the German Rail (Bahn) website to find schedules. Don't reserve in advance; your trans-Atlantic flight could be delayed. There are multiple connections, ICE via Mannheim, ICE/TGV via Karlsruhe, ICE/Thalys via Köln. The ICE connection via Mannheim is the fastest, but there are only a couple of those connections a day - not worth waiting for. In general, the next train leaving will get you there soonest.
