Frankfurt Airport Connection: Milan to Toronto 70mins

I want to book a flight and from Milan MXP going to Toronto, there's a connection in Frankfurt. I have 70 mins to catch my ride to Toronto. Is that enough time? All the flights are under Air Canada and when I arrive from Milan, I'm in Terminal 1 and my flight to Toronto is in Terminal 1.

I'm assuming, I will go thru all the security, immigration in Milan MXP and not have to encounter that in Frankfurt. Am I right?

Milan will clear you through security and you'll be fine in Frankfurt. However, you will have to go through immigration in Frankfurt (someone stamps your passport when you leave the Schengen zone). Shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

I don't know much about connecting at Frankfurt airport, but if you bought this as one ticket AC is assuming that this connection is doable on an average day.

The official minimum connecting time at FRA airport is 45 minutes as surprising as that may sound. MXP to FRA is operated by Lufthansa, FRA to YTO either by LH or AC, both are within Star Alliance. It'll all take place within Terminal 1...

Marlene:
We have exactly the same layover on our Air Canada flight from Milan-Frankfurt-Toronto in early October, 70 minutes. I did previously inquire on the Helpline and was comfortable that should be sufficient time to get from one plane to the other.

My only concern at this point is whether AC will still be in business in October.

Thanks everyone, I feel a bit better now. Ever since I missed my int'l connection during my first overseas trip and almost it again on my 2nd overseas trip (because of lack of travel exp), flying causes me to have high anxiety. I still have another connection to Winnipeg but as long as I make the int'l to Canada, I will be so relieved that I don't mind if I get stranded in any Canadian city.

And I wish WestJet can expand their operations to Europe or other int'l to give Air Canada a run for it's money. =)
