We will be coming into the Frankfurt airport on US Airways on Friday 10:45 am Terminal 1 and need to catch US Airways (operated by Lufthansa)also in Terminal 1 at 12:40 to Milan. Any advice?
My suggestion is to do some research on the Internet. Either of those airlines may have internal maps of Frankfurt airport; or you can search for the airport's own site. Print out the relevant map as a guide to where you are going. Once in the arrival area, look for the monitors that will confirm what gate you need for the next flight (sometimes this data changes). If confused, look for airline staff stationed there to help those making connections.
Doing the research yourself will help you feel more confident when you are doing the trip yourself.
Now I understand. It would have made more sense to add your comments to your original question instead of starting a new question. To repeat myself. Frankfurt is a huge airport and it is possible to have a long walk if changing terminals but staying in the same terminal should be fine. You will go through immigrations but should have plenty of time. The terminal is very well marked/sign contrary to your friend's memory.
Chris, Which U.S. airport are you departing from, and what's the U.S. Airways flight number (US 706 out of Charlotte)? If so, the current arrival terminal is shown as 1C. Your flight to Milan is most likely: Flight No.: LH 252 Destinaton: Milan-Malpensa Sceduled departure time: 12:40 Terminal: 1 AB Counter: 260-338
Gate: A Of course, these are subject to change so you'll have to check when you arrive at FRA. You can research all the details at the airport website: www.frankfurt-airport.com/content/frankfurt_airport/en/flights/arrivals.html#6 Happy travels!
Frank, I am researching Frankfort and connections on to another EU country, in my case Spain. Both Lufstana and US Air told me I do not go through immigration/customs until the final EU country destination.
So now I am confused!
