We are planning a trip to France in June - 2011 and I have noticed major changes to the train schedules a week or so after June 1, 2011. Is something going on that I am unaware of??
The schedules for that part of the year haven't been published yet. But usually there are only minor changes that occur season to season, so for planning purposes it's okay to use the schedules earlier in the year. You'll just have to hold off on purchasing tickets until about 120 days before your journey.
Whose website are you using, RailEurope, the Bahn, or SNCF? According to the Bahn (German Rail), the changes occur between Sat June 11 and Sun June 12, which is the time European railroads start their Summer/Fall schedules. We're still on the Summer/Fall 2010 schedule. French Rail probably has not yet set their Summer/Fall 2011 schedule. The later schedule now looks quite different than the day before, but I doubt it will be that different when the new one is set.
I'm using the BAHN site. I suspect that the responses above are correct and was wonder about the timeframe that far out.
