Four questions for visits outside of London

The only places we we want to see outside of London are Gastonbury Tor, Stonehenge, Salisbury and Bath. Question 1) Since these places are somewhat spread out, does it make sense to rent a car and plan on spending Question 2) One night in Gastonbury and one night in Bath before returning to London or should we Question 3) Put out schedule in the hands of a tour bus--haven't found one that will spend more than an hour or two in each of these sights or
Question 4) Put our schedule in the hands of the train system, with the expectation that taxis and/or buses will be available for the short trips we'll need to take?

First, I'll assume its a typo and you meant Glastonbury. These places are actually reasonably close to each other, so I'd stay in Bath both nights, rent a car, and visit each location for as long as you wish. Alternatively, if you rented the car in London, say at Heathrow, you could visit Stonehenge on the way to Bath or returning. That way you are controlling your trip and not putting your schedule in the hands of a tour bus or train system! Good luck.
