My husband and I just got back from a trip to Australia. The trip was much to short for the length of the flights but it was all we could do. We flew United from Washington D.C. to L. A and L.A. to Sydney. We upgraded to Economy Plus on the L.A. to Sydney
leg. I hated paying the extra money but was very happy I did. With a 14 hour flight, inches of leg room are important!!
Australia was like a parallel world! Different flowers, birds and kangaroos instead of deer! It was very nice.
Our flight home was Sydney to San Francisco which we again upgraded to economy plus. It was a full plane(787-9) so felt crowded even with the extra leg room. I could never understand when I heard stories about people freaking out on a plane but after flying for 13 hours during the day,I can appreciated it! Thankfully it was a quiet flight.
We were delayed in San Francisco waiting for a part(which is a little disconcerting) and would have missed our connection in Chicago but they delayed THAT flight so all was well. If you can, I would build in more layover time in your flights if you have connections to make. I'd rather people watch in an airport than have a to stomach ache because you think you might miss a connection.
All in all, it was a good trip and United was fine. People would joke about getting pulled off but all was well!
