Flying to Havana and back

Hello all, I am already planning a trip from Vienna for Feb/March 2026 and aiming for Cuba. I was looking for airlines and the cheapest options i found were Condor and Iberia, and the shortest trip was Air France (I am checking the airlines for this year because the ones for next year are obviously not there yet). I was wondering what do you know about Condor and Iberia and if they are any good (i am also planning to take a checked in bag because i will probably stay around 2 weeks), or if i should just pay the extra 300 euros and go Air France? Any insights would be great.

We flew to Havana from Miami a few years ago and I believe it was Condor. It was fine but a very short flight for us. So if you are coming from Vienna I would look at the comfort offered by the airlines. If AirFrance was more comfortable it might be worth the extra money.

First off, flights for Feb/March 2026 will not go live for another 1-2 months. So any
fares you see now do not necessarily apply for Feb/March 2026.

Second, the best fares will most likely not be the ones that are posted when the
flights go live. Best to check travel sites that can give you some idea of how fares
have tracked historically, to get some idea of how far out in time the best fares are
usually available.

Are you planning to fly economy, or a higher class of service? Depending on the fare,
some of the extras (such as bag fees) may be included, and be differently priced on
different airlines.

I suspect you know this, but you cannot transit through the US to fly to Cuba unless
it is for a specific, allowed reason per the US government.

I’ve flown Iberia a number of times to Europe and had no complaints. I would not hesitate to use them in the future.

We flew Miami to Havana on American several years ago. We loved our time in Cuba.

Thank you all, the main issue for me is that probably my trip will be rather tight so i cant afford flight cancellations, but also i am travelling with a big carry on and i read some really worrying reviews about Iberia and carry ons. Any input on that?

Flight cancellations are something you have no control over in general, and a year away
from the nominal date of travel, who knows.

What is likely to happen the farther out you book, is that airline schedules will change and
what you thought was an ideal itinerary is no longer so. You can always cancel if the airline
does something terrible, but then you're back at square one.

As for luggage, your first post says you're checking a bag and your last post says you have a
big carryon. Do you really need both? Any airline (agent) can decide to be picky about carryon
bag size; you just need to read the policy and decide what you're willing to go with. At worst,
you pay the last minute fee to check a bag you thought you could bring on the plane.
