Flying Rome to Sicily

My family and I are flying from Phila. to Rome overnight and landing at 8:45 a.m. I'm not sure whether to book a Rome to Catania flight at 11 a.m. with Blu Panaromic Express or a 12:55 p.m. with Meridana. Is the Fumincio Airport difficult to navigate? Is the USAirways flight on time or is the layover time too short and we may miss the 11 a.m. flight?

Has anyone flown with Blu Express or Merdiana? We're avoiding Alitalia at all costs. Thanks.

That is a tough question. Most international are on time unless there is an equipment problem or severe weather. We were on the that same flight from Phil two years ago and it was fine. If it was me, I would book the later flight just to be safe since the downside risk is severe and the upside risk is just two hours of wasted time.

Vicki, also consider Air One. I've used them several times within Italy and have always been very pleased. All of my many US Airways flights to Rome have arrived near the scheduled time. It's about a 10 minute walk from the baggage area exit to the domestic check-in counters and security lines move fairly quickly, so you have some buffer even with the earlier flight. I booked a later flight on Air One once to allow buffer and they moved me to an earlier flight at no extra charge. Not sure what their policy is if late. No experience with Blu Express or Meridana.

Thanks, both Franks! I went on Air ONe's site, but since the merger, the site switches me back to Altalia site. So, I'm afraid the merger won't help at all.
has anyone tried Air One?

Vicki, we have also used Air One many times, but not since the merger.

I always found them to be excellent.
