Flying out of Vancouver BC do we stay airside or go through security again?

We were able to save a bunch of money and have a direct flight to CDG flying out of Vancouver rather than Seattle. And thanks to Alaska miles, companion fare and the Chase Saphire $300 travel credit the tickets to Vancouver were free!

We have a short flight from Seattle to Vancouver. Do we stay “airside” or have to go back through security to get to our AirFrance flight?

If you booked the SEA-YVR flight separately from the YVR-CDG leg, then yes, you have to "enter" Canada and then go back through security to get to your next flight. We did this year before last and it was a bit of a hassle, but worth it for the excellent bargain.

I’ve flown out of Vancouver instead of Seattle before for the same reason. I found that the Vancouver airport is quite user friendly and I think you will enjoy flying out of there.

As it is your first and only point of entry to Canada, you will have to go through security on landing.
However, you may well then be funneled through a transit area to your next flight, in which case you will not leave a secure area.
If your flights are all on the same booking, your checked bag will be checked through to Paris from Seattle.
But!..check when you land at YVR, just to make sure.
Ask the staff if you do need to retrieve luggage, or has it gone straight through.
In my experience, its best to check on everything at every stop, as they constantly change procedures!
Hope you enjoy our beautiful airport, and all the artwork.
