Hi guys. Im planning a trip this september to Europe. I was hoping to get a flight to Glasgow in September from Vancouver, or even Seattle. Do you know when the cheapest time to buy would be? thanks guys!

The cheapest time to buy is when the price is the lowest. Unfortunately no one knows when that is. Impossible question. Some have favorite theories buy on Tuesday or was that Thursday? buy after mid night, wait till six, eight weeks out. You need to decide what is an acceptable fare, buy it, and don't look back. Watch the fares for a while to see what is happening. You could use the forecast of Bing travel but that is not always dependable. I would guess that the low point might occur sometimes in Feb, March, April period.

Cam, Your best option will likely be direct Vancouver-Glasgow flights via Air Transat or Canadian Affair (which appears to use Air Transat for some of their flights). It's likely that the prices and schedules haven't been finalized yet for September 2012, but a "ballpark figure" should be ~$1200 return (including taxes & fees). One important point to mention is that the above carriers only have "limited" departures, usually about once a week, so you'll need to have a flexible travel dates. You might find it helpful to check This Website when you're planning flights. With charter airlines, I'd suggest booking as soon as your travel dates are finalized, as the low cost seats can sell out quickly. Happy travels!

Cam, I, too, have heard of the Tuesday/Wednesday best rates rumor, but have found that a travel agent (aka, broker) might give a good rate almost anytime, even omitting some taxes. I've never used the Hipmunk site, bit will look into it myself. I often start with a site that displays many results at once, as http://www.kayak.com/ will do. From there, I narrow my search and eventually make my choice ... and don't look back.
