We have booked a flight from Shannon to London that departs at 1020am. I realize we need to arrive 2 hrs early to check in etc. We were planning on spending the night in Dingle but we do have to turn in our rental car at the airport. Does anyone think we should try to find a place to stay the night before a little closer than Dingle? Has anyone driven this stretch before? I have no idea of traffic etc.

Ennis is a pleasant town and convenient to Shannon. Spend your last evening in an Ennis pub listening to a traditional music session.

There are lots of B&Bs by Bunratty Castle, just a few miles from the airport. For a flight that early I would recommend staying in one of those so you have plenty of time to fill up the car and get it turned in before going to the airport.

I stayed in Limerick and took a morning bus to Shannon Airport. Limerick is worth a day and night.
