We are on the ETBD Best of Adriatic Tour that ends in Dubrovnik on October 4. After going to Montenegro for 2 nights, we would like to get to Orvieto in Umbria. We wanted to take direct flight from Dubrovnik to Rome, then rent car to go to Umbria. However, can't find a flight except by going back to Frankfort and then to Rome. Any ideas?
Try taking a ferry to Italy....They probally wont be as cheap, but are relaxing and scenic! Also, faster than flying on the way your going.
:-)
Croatia Airline is about your only option, however those flight have not been released. They only sell 6 months in advance, as well as Wizzair. They too, might have a flight. I know there is a flight from Split to Rome and that is about $99 and you could take the bus to Split from Dubrnovik if needed. (it's a 4 hour ride.) The ferry too, is a good idea however, it's seasonal.
Croatia Airlines does fly direct from Dubrovnik to Rome, but only on Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun. That may be part of the reason you're not finding a direct flight. Note that if you take a ferry from Dubrovnik to Bari, the train connections from there to Orvieto are somewhat limited (big gap from early morning to early afternoon).
